52 Lists // Week 15 // Calligraphy

April 16th, 2013

52 Lists // Week 15 // CalligraphyNew list from Moorea Seal’s 52 Lists. For this one I decided not to calligraphy the whole thing because I wouldn’t have gotten all my favourite quotes on the page otherwise :) I wrote the numbers in uncial and decorated them with coloured boxes and also wrote out the challenge using uncial, but used my handwriting for the rest.

I’m a big-time quote-junkie, so I had no trouble coming up with plenty for this list. I collect all my favourites in a little notebook anyway. They’re also great for writing on envelopes when you send someone a letter.

Working hard for my dream-life

52 Lists // Week 15 // Calligraphy // DetailsCloseup of the challenge, which I wrote out in calligraphy and then decorated with a few splodges of colour.

I’m currently trying hard to buckle down and get to work on some core aspects of my life. A biggie at the moment is work and finances, I’m not someone who likes bothering potential clients for work, (I’m a designer, not a salesperson) it’s something I struggle with and also something I like to procrastinate on. Woohoo.

I’m at a big turning point of my life right now, stuff is happening, dreams are being fulfilled, I’m slowly but surely creating the life that I want, but there’s also a lot of confusion and feeling lost. There’s a lot of new stuff to learn about freelancing and making my way in the “grown-up world” and sometimes stuff gets overwhelming. But I’m pushing forward, and though sometimes progress feels way to slow, whenever I look back, I’m quite surprised at how much I’ve accomplished.

It’s hard, but it feels right. And I’m glad that I’m doing this.

52 Lists // Week 15 // Calligraphy52 Lists is a project by Moorea Seal. I have been using it since the beginning to practice my calligraphy skills. Here you can find all the lists I’ve done so far. If you’re interested in calligraphy inspiration, visit my Pinterest Calligraphy board.

I love your handwriting! Your list if very beautifully written :) I agree with the overwhelming feeling of growing into yourself. It is something I’m battling with now as well. It’s so liberating/frightening at the same time!!

Aw thank you very much Sarah :)

Agreeing totally with the liberating/frightening bit… it feels so right deep down and at the same time most of the time I’m still scared shitless and thinking “I can’t do this – I can’t do this… except – holy moly I AM doing it! And it’s sort of working!”
Wishing you good luck on your own journey! I’m sure you can do it! Let me know how it goes :D

Thank you for your kind comment!

Oh my! This one… “One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time ~ André Gide” is so stunning. Yes, yes, yes.

I am so glad you are working and focusing on your dream. I know it’s scary, and tough, but the end result is WORTH IT. <3

Your list is gorgeous, by the way.

It’s awesome isn’t it! That quote gives me so much comfort during times where everything is a confused muddle and I can’t fathom where I’m currently going… It helps me let go and just trust that somehow, someday things are going to work out just fine and I should sit back and enjoy the ride and not be too hard on myself. No one can read the future.

I’m so glad I’m taking these steps too. It is tough, and it is scary, but somewhere deep down it just feels so right, and that gives me so much strength. Before I was never sure about the path I was walking, whether it was really what I wanted, but now I’m actively shaping my life through my decisions and not just through reactive behavious or following the commonly accepted blueprint. Maybe the whole thing will go belly-up. And maybe 5 years from now I’ll look up and realise I have everything I ever dreamed of, because I chose it. That thought keeps me going :)

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment and encouraging words!
