52 Lists // Week 18 // CalligraphyNewest list from Moorea Seal’s 52 Lists. I’m still figuring out how best to use my gold ink. Not satisfied yet, not sure if the mixture is too thick or too thin… Anyhow, it’s not really working as I expected yet. The script used this time is the carolingian minuscule. My brain seems a bit sluggish today so I felt a lot of letters ended up a bit wonky, but as this is a just for fun project I’m not terribly bothered. :)

My energy levels have improved quite a bit recently due to getting back into plenty of excercise…

I recently cancelled my monthly train ticket as it’s too expensive and now go everywhere I can on the bike. I’m starting to get back into regular karate training. I’ve also recently discovered that a 45 minute nap in the morning when I get back from my boyfriend’s place (we get up around 6:30 AM and then I set off for home when he goes to work) really helps me get some of my energy back. I really hate getting up early and getting plenty of sleep does wonders for my happiness and energy.

Another thing that really helps is setting myself goals and kicking my to-do list in the ass. The momentum of getting stuff done seems to carry me into higher levels of producivity. Annoyingly enough these kind of days like to alternate with days where squat gets done. I haven’t really figured out why. Some days I’ll accomlplish like a week’s worth of work in a day, the next day time just seems to slip between my fingers while nothing gets done. Anyone else experience this? Tips? Solutions?

    WOW! I’m an artist, but I’ve never mastered the art of calligraphy. (as much as I’ve wanted to, my handwriting is still abysmally messy). This list is beautiful, and just looking at it is giving me energy! Really SO beautiful.

      Thank you so very much :) Just taken a peek at your blog, I think I’ll definitely have to check back, your art is so adorable and beautiful :)
      I think my handwriting is reasonably neat when I make an effort, but to me calligraphy feels very different than just writing by hand. I feel you’re almost drawing each individual letter and then word, rather than just writing. It’s a wonderful hobby :)

    Wow. Your calligraphy is so beautiful and refreshing. If there are wonky letters I don’t see them. So impressed and inspired!! I also enjoyed your list. I’m currently trying to figure out how to stay productive consistently as well. Haven’t figured it out yet, but am hoping I get better at it.

      Thank you very much :) They’re probably not over the top wonky, but I have terrible perfectionist tendencies :) I’m trying to loosen up and not be too fussy about the 52 lists project and am just treating it as a fun project.
      Yeah, consistent productivity is so hard for me to get right. I know we can’t consistently function at high productivity all the time, but it would be nice if it were a liiiiiittle more consistent ^^ Keeping a list of things I need to work towards and being clear on the next steps helps me, as well as just “tricking” myself into working when I really don’t feel like it. Mainly by just taking a teeny tiny step in the right direction and trying to convince myself “I’m not actually going to work on it, I’m just going to open the file and take a quick peek”. Quite often that sparks off an idea and I start rolling. I also feel it’s important for me to keep track of everything I have achieved, even if it’s just a small step, and taking a moment to celebrate how far I’ve come. I often tend to miss the small successes along the way and feel like I haven’t gotten very far. Then one day all those little things add up and everything falls into place. So I try and keep track of those small successes to keep me motivated :)
