I’m participating in this September’s 30 Days of Lists challenge, which will be starting on SUNDAY! Really looking forward to this :) I’m enrolled as a sponsor, so if you join you’ll be seeing a couple of goodies from me :)

Almost 600 people have already joined so far, and to celebrate, 30 Days of Lists is hosting a giveaway!! When we reach 600 registered Listers, participants will be able to win a $100 gift certificate to Studio Calico! One of those first 600 Listers will be selected at random and take home the goodies! All you have to do to be entered for the draw is register for September’s 30 Days of Lists.

Today I’m joining in the 30 Days of Lists Blog Hop, where some of us participants will be showing our favorite prompts from the March 2011 30Lists challenge. All of the prompts from that challenge are still available for free, so feel free to click over to see the whole List of Lists and get into the listing mood :)

If you still want more prompts, you can grab any one of the previous challenges as a self-paced download. Choose each set of lists one-at-a-time or get all 4 of them together. (That’s 120 Lists for you to get stuck into!)

30 Days of Lists // Calligraphy

For today’s list highlight, I chose:

Books I’d like to read this year

I love lists, and I love books. What a great way to combine the two :) I’m a book maniac, so here’s a rather small excerpt from my Amazon shopping cart. There are 55 items in my basket and 371 saved for later. It’s going to take me a while to get through those. If I started listing everything I want to read it’d be never-ending…

30 Days of Lists // Books I'd Like to Read this Year

I’ve created this list using calligraphy once again :) The 52 Lists project at Moorea Seal is sadly on hold indefinitely, so I needed a new outlet. It was nice to get back to practicing again. I probably won’t be using calligraphy during the challenge, as it is rather time-consuming… but we’ll see. I haven’t yet decided how I’m going to do it.

This is gorgeous! The font you’re using is very Tolkien-eque. Completely awesome.

I’m a book manic too, and I’ve read a couple of good ones on your list! I’m actually re-reading Game of Thrones right now, and Bird by Bird is one of my favorite books about writing.

Thank you! :) Yeah, the writing used in Lord of the Rings seems heavily based on the uncial, or a similar script :)
Which books have you read, might I ask, apart from Game of Thrones and Bird by Bird?

Your calligraphy is so, so inspiring. <3 I use a quill and ink in my grimoire, and for some sketches and writing. I LOVE IT.

I have a long "must read" list that's constantly growing, actually, it's probably longer than what I have already read. I actually am REALLY picky with my reads, so I don't have an extensive reading history under my belt (though I do love reading.) So I follow a recommendation here, a review there and my own judgement. ^_^

Thank you so much! I still feel very much a beginner, but I enjoy it very much! Is that an actual feather quill or a pen nib you use? Sounds pretty awesome though!

My must-read list is never ending, they’re releasing cool books faster than I can keep up with. What sort of books do you enjoy reading? I go through phases of obsessions with various subjects and then read everything I can get my hand on in that direction ^^

    Hi Ffion,

I just love your calligraphy, but also the ink you used. May I ask what it is? I also just came back from Tuscany – what a place! In Florence, I found the most amazing shop ever, they make their own inks and you can buy a whole bunch of reproductions of vintage nibs. They also have hand bound leather journals of various sizes…I could have spent my whole savings there. I’ll try and get a post up about it on my blog. It’s called Signum and they have an online store. Anyway, except for Game of Thrones, I haven’t read any of the books on your list!

The ink is from the Ecoline brand, the colour is 411 (Burnt Sienna), it’s one of the favourite ones I own, it really is a gorgeous shade, isn’t it? :) I think they’re available online, my teacher usually brings them to class, so I’ve purchased them there until now.

Tuscanny really is wonderful, and I was in Florence too :) Do you have a link to their store? I’d love to check it out. I didn’t see any vintage nibs sadly, although I did buy a beautiful bordeaux coloured ink and beautifully decorated metal pen holder in one shop :) And the leatherbound journals available in Tuscanny are just to die for… and so affordable compared to Germany where something like that’d cost an arm and a leg oO

Did you enjoy Game of Thrones? I’ve heard so much good stuff about it and bought a box set for a very reasonable price, but haven’t gotten round to reading it yet…

Oh this so exciting! I will definitely go and take a look on it!
And how awesome the calligraphy is?!

    • ffion

Aw, thank you so very much! :) I love calligraphy so much, and also any sort of beautiful handwriting! :)
